don't know how it happened, but probably when using one of my image file viewers, the icon that represents all of my image files in any or all of my folders was altered. Maybe there is a config file setting or something that controls this, but the image the software "selected" for me is annoying to look at.

I said boot diskette, not windows startup diskette. NAV2001 runs in windows, including ME (nasty taste). Don't see you running any of the mentioned at the same time. The only part of DI that will work effectively in windows is the part for viewing or restoring the internals of an image file.
